Direct answer

Load an XML backup from the settings dialog, then check that its referenced files and shortcuts still exist. Restoring a configuration is not the same as reinstalling a skin, application, or network location used by that configuration.

What to do

  1. Export the current settings before importing another file. This provides a way back when the incoming configuration was made for a different PC or menu style.
  2. Read the XML filename and notes to identify its source version and intended layout. Only load configurations from a source you trust.
  3. Use Backup > Load from XML File in the settings dialog and select the saved file. Review the resulting style and controls before applying additional changes.
  4. Restore custom assets to their expected locations or update their paths through the settings interface. Test shortcuts individually rather than assuming an imported path is valid.

Check the result

Close and reopen the settings dialog, then sign in again if needed. Check your important app links, custom button, and skin as separate items.

Limits & precautions

Moving between PCs can change usernames, drive letters, installed apps, and display scaling. These differences can make a valid import look incomplete.

Questions & answers

Why is my custom button missing after import?

The XML may refer to an image path that has not been copied to the new PC.

Can I undo an import?

Load the configuration you exported immediately before the import, then restore any changed external assets.
